A side gig at a winery turned into an opportunity to bring to life a couple of label designs. Both wines were a special limited bottling so the labels needed to be one of a kind, but with very different features and focuses.

50/50 is a special limited release blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot from the same vineyard location. The winemaker wanted a bold eye catching label that was handwritten and reminiscence of a percentage mark (%).

We used a paintbrush to create the lettering and then cleaned it up in Illustrator for the final label. Thick gloss embossing and a wax cap in a matching bright red make this bottle unique.
The Au Naturel Grenache was made with very old school and traditional winemaking methods. The winemaker was seeking a label design that was simple and clean with the minimum of color.

The resulting label has a very small amount of text on the front, Using white and a single pop of wine red to bring attention to the varietal. He also selected an unbleached brown Kraft paper as the background of the label in keeping with the natural style of the wine.
